This previous week, I participated in a research showcase as part of my independent study and mentorship program. The event was aimed at showcasing the work that my fellow ISM classmates and I have been doing since August. We invited our mentors, family, and other guests to showcase what we have learned and the projects we have been working on.
Through the research showcase, I was able to enhance my presentation skills and interact with students from across Frisco ISD to gain insights into a wide range of topics. I also gained public attention towards my topic, which intrigued a large group of individuals. I invited my mentor, Ms. Sheila McElroy, and explained to her everything I had learned in my previous semester in ISM and showcased my original work. During the event, I had the opportunity to meet with previous and current project managers and gain more insights into the scope of my topic. They advised me to look at my topic from a more consulting and coaching perspective since my work and plan for the final product are geared towards consulting for clients.
Overall, the showcase provided me with an opportunity to network, gain insights, explore, and enjoy the qualities of being an Independent Study and Mentorship student.
