This past week in ISM was wildly crazy! I began the week by connecting with more professionals in the business management industry. Even though my topic for my independent study is project management, I decided to connect with a broader field as it led me to discover professionals with a history in consulting and project (and team) management. It also allowed me to learn more about how different business management fields include a project management basis in their work.
My first interview of the week and ISM program started with Mrs. Jennifer Cummings, a youth service manager at the Frisco Public Library. From this meeting, I was able to attain more insights into what youth service management is and how its tasks relate to the structural process of project management. My second interview was with Miss. Sheila McElroy is an improvement and performance specialist at Ericsson. From this interview with her, I was able to comprehend the different types of project management methodologies more as she explained to me how she uses the methodology scrum in her projects. With this, I gained more knowledge on how different types of professionals build up a project management team and how project tasks are completed.
As the new week forms, I continue to connect with professionals in this field. I also aim to start working on the first stage of my original work research.
